The reason it got hit so hard is because it was overpowered and needed to be taken out of the monthly, so it was a drastic fix but probably not permanent, as lemming said. As much as people have been complaining, RaO smite has only been popular for about 2 weeks. After the monthly, he will probably buff it so it still might see play, just not as much as before.

Also, like echo has said in other threads, most skills are fine, but start to become overpowered when people bring 3+ copies in the same team.

I would hope it's because he's busy with GW2.

As others have said, it's probably temporary until a better solution can be hammered out, but at least it shows that Izzy and Co. are aware of the problem and are willing to do something in light of the double fame this weekend and the mAT the following weekend.

So how's the AI now? I'd check it myself, but I'm working overtime at the moment...

And it is done. For the first time in GW, a skill was deliberately made useless.

I wonder what was so horrible about disrupting lunge for pve lol. Pretty much had no use since noone really brings pets (except for enemies). It's weird nerfs/ changes like that in pve which always makes me wonder what they are thinking, unless they were just too lazy to give it a pvp version.

Agreed. From what I've read, they should have split the change.

I have to say that considering there is "usually" a weekly update, why things such as Smiters Boon could not be nerfed in steps until a balance is found over the course of say a month seems a reasonable method.
I know izzy has limited time available to him, but changing the recharge to 30 secs, 60 secs then 90 secs if required wouldnt take that much time considering the programmer had done the changes the week before so knew exactly what and where to change?

Im guessing the disrupt lunge is also aimed at the R/Ps out and about too...

Maybe RAO should gain only half adrenaline.

Smiter's boon wasn't any thing special to begin with....all the single target smite spells have longer recharge than their healing/prot versions, AND they all have some conditions attached. The doubled heal only max out at around 85 which isn't much.

Agreed, I still have a small sore spot from Verata's Sacrifice.

But yeah, the Smiter's Boon nerf was definitely extreme, not balanced, just blasted.

As for the hero updates, I want to see the extent, 'cause just recently I was trying to cap Xinrae's Weapon and the heroes were all about attacking enemies that were pretty far away and hanging out when the rest of the group was high-tailing it. Not the best way to make your way around outside of Abaddon's Gate.

Let me put this out to you all, because it's quite apparent that a lot of you don't understand the nerf.

If any of you have been GvGing at all recently, you would have come into contact with this skill and hate it dearly.

With the build it was in, it allowed for 4 monks to smite off damage from RaO axe rangers spamming deep wound and interrupts, normally inevitably eating up small prots and interrupting key skills.

You couldn't use condition pressure or conditions at all; the monks would smite it off for a lot of damage (80+). You couldn't overload them with hexes; the same would happen.

All the while, your midline, so responsible for opening the way for damage on the opposite team, was useless. If your warrior opened up with attacks, he'd frenzy and have Reversal of Damage and god-knows-what-else smite skills blow him up.

It was terrible and boring to play against.

So to all of you saying that this nerf was unnecessary, no u.

Sorry, but heals of 85 aren't much? Along with the mitigation, damage and spammability of Reversal of Damage?

Whatever you're smoking, it must be good stuff.

There is a difference between nerfing something to create balance, and nerfing something to eliminate it. The way Smiter's Boon was nerfed, it is completely useless. I won't argue it wasn't in need of a nerf, but it could have been altered in a way that made it wtill useable, but not abuseable.

This looks like someone said, "OH CRAP, we have a skill ruining the Meta, we best nerf it!" and the response was, "OH CRAP, we don't have time to think of a good solution, just make it unusable!"
